What is THE BIKE THING you may ask?

Well, basically it's this. We are a group of motorcycle enthusiasts with varying backgrounds in the film and television industry. We have made a pilot T.V magazine programme, called funnily enough The Bike Thing which we have been showing  to various T.V companies. The programme is not just about motorbikes, though, it's also about the people who ride them, the things you can get up to and the issues we all face as riders. We aim to show motorcycles from a slightly different angle using  in-depth articles, reviews, quirky items, "postcard from", the ultimate test centre, social events, community based projects and much, much more. The programme will be made for bikers by bikers, be interactive and provide a voice for the motorcyclist.

Please remember this is a pilot programme made to broadcast standard on a small budget and with lots of favours. If commisioned we will have a lot more scope to include all sorts of other articles and reviews.

So far the response from the major television stations has been very receptive, but, and this is a big but , it is according to them a niche market, catering to just a few (Does this mean that the 3 million or so riders in Britain alone is a small minority?). We believe there is room for a programme like The Bike Thing on television. With countless motoring, sporting, gardening and every other sort of programme format around, is it really too much to ask to have one decent programme about motorcycles and the people who ride them?

Sales of motorcycles, mopeds, and scooters have increased hugely over the last couple of years (see News section).

This is where you can help us to get The Bike Thing onto your screens. We want to hear from you now.  Send us your suggestions, your comments or register your support by writing or e-mail us.

It all helps!
