Water Way To Go - Our spies photographed this recent
experiment at a top secret location in Birmingham. Could this be a possible
solution to the congestion on our busy roads?
The government today unveiled a new White Paper aimed at cutting congestion in London, the main focus of which is on cars. The government recognises that motorcycles and mopeds can provide an alternative means of transport for many trips and produce benefits for the enviroment/congestion if they are substituted for car use.
Responding to this The Motor Cycle Industry (MCI) Chairman Geoff Sherley said: "We welcome Mr Prescott's announcements today, which have, for the first time ever, recognised the potential of motorcycles and mopeds and the extent they are already used as a transport mode. Motorcycles and mopeds are now a continuing part of the national integrated transport agenda."
The Government has also proposed a motorcycle advisory group to bring
together interested parties to discuss issues of concern. "The MCI
and others in the motorcycling community will continue to liaise with the
Government on actions to further improve the safety and environmental impact
of motorcycling", said MCI Vice President Monica Dickman.

Thanks to everybody so far for the E-mail we've received, please keep them coming in. Although The Bike Thing web site has only been up for just over a week we have got some good feedback from various organisations and people about the programme. We have had several great ideas already. More links to other sites will be added soon so please check them out.
In the near future we will be trying to get posters out to some of the bike meets as another way of promoting the programme.
Hopefully as we go along the web site will improve (this is our first attempt!) with new ideas, features and design.
